The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is soon releasing the notification for the recruitment of Stenographer Grade C and D posts.   • Notification Release: 16 July 2024
  • Application Period: 16 July 2024 – 14 August 2024
  • Exam Dates: October – November 2024

Eligibility Criteria


  • Indian citizens, and subjects of Nepal/Bhutan.
  • Migrants from Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Eastern African Countries, and Vietnam.

Age Limit:

  • Must be under 30 years old (age relaxation as per government norms).

Educational Qualification:

  • Must have passed intermediate (12th grade) from a recognized board.
  • Must possess stenography skills from a recognized institution.

Examination Pattern

Computer-Based Test (CBT):

  • Total Questions: 200 (50 General Intelligence & Reasoning, 50 General Awareness, 100 English Language & Comprehension)
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Marking: 1 mark per question, with a one-third mark penalty for wrong answers

Skill Test:

  • 10 minutes of dictation in Hindi or English at regional offices

Application Fee

  • General/OBC: ₹100
  • SC/ST/Women/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen: No fee
  • Payment Method: Online only

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official SSC website:
  2. Click on the SSC Stenographer Grade C and D application link in the notification section.
  3. Register and create a password (new users) or log in with your registration number and password.
  4. Fill out the application form with the required details.
  5. Upload a passport-size photo and signature as per the specified size.
  6. Pay the application fee online and complete your application.
  7. Save and download your application form for future reference.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) and skill test in stenography.
